Former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards has passed away at the age of 67, from the aggressive brain cancer she was diagnosed with in 2023. Garnering sympathy from abortion industry mainstays, Richard's death also prompted genuine grief from former Planned Parenthood worker and current Pro-Life speaker Abby Johnson, who voiced her immense regret that Richards never escaped a career strewn with innocent lives. Johnson said, "I pray that in her finally moments, she had a powerful encounter with the Lord, as he wants all His children to spend eternity with Him."
Songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda recently announced the commission of a new play, "Everything You Need To Know About Abortion in One Hour or Less," as a proud stab towards the support of "women's right." Known for representing marginalized groups in his works, Miranda has shown a stunning blindness for the most unseen and targeted group in the world (unborn babies), ignorantly backing their murder.

On December 4, 2024, UnitedHealthcare CED Brian Thompson was shot and killed in New York City while waiting to attend a company investor meeting. The suspect in the killing, Baltimore native Luigi Mangione, was arrested in expectation of extradition and trial.
While seemingly unimportant to most people, the murder to Thompson should be of great concern to many, as the public's response to the crime highlights a troubling-if-recycled way of thinking that is permeating deeper into American culture. Namely, a lack of empathy in the face of death. Reactions to Thompson's death included glee, amusement, and a lack of sympathy, with many celebrating the crime and praising Mangione for his actions.
In a culture that jovially promotes the murder of unborn babies, these reactions are not surprising but should cause concern. A lack of outrage over unjust death represents a fundamentally broken society that will abandon all its people eventually; therefore, the goal should be healing this deficiency long before its effects are encountered personally. In other words, a Luke 6:31 attitude should be pursued, as it greatly benefits a culture beholden to it.

World famous singer Celine Dion made a triumphant return to performing in Paris this past month, ending the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Olympics from atop the Eiffel Tower
Delivering a moving rendition of "L'Hymne a l' Amour," Dion's vocals reached 300,000 live spectators and 30 million more watching online, a spectacular achievement considering the singer nearly didn't make it to her birthday 56 years ago.
Nearly aborted in 1968, by a mother who was already raising thirteen children, Dion's life was saved when a devoted priest championed her personhood. Dion later said, "He told her (my mother) that she had no right to go against nature...I owe my life to that priest."
Holding strong Pro-Life convictions since then, Dion may have already realized the impact her Paris performance can have. If she can rise to such heights after starting life as an "unwanted child," then every abortion-vulnerable baby has the potential to do the same, proving that children are more than their beginnings.

The Las Vegas Sphere captured the public's attention during the Superbowl as "Pro-Life Spiderman" climbed the 366-foot structure to raise money for a mom in need. Maison Deschamps has climbed several buildings to bring awareness to the Pro-Life cause since the overturn of Roe v. Wade in 2022. Notably, though authorities are never pleased with Deschamps' stunts, they were particularly hostile towards him, and bystanders, after this most recent climb.
Alabama's Supreme Court made history on February 23, by voting to recognize frozen embryos (used
for IVF) as the babies they are. Brought to their attention after three families sued under the state's "Wrongful Death of a Minor Act," the court's decision on the issue is a huge step for the Pro-Life movement, though it has grated on the IVF industry and Pro-Choice side of the aisle. Many clinics have already ceased IVF procedures for fear of legal repercussions. From December 2023 Edition
Issue 1, an Ohio-based legislation, recently passed in the November election. Winning with just over half the available votes, the legislation allows the enshrinement of abortion in Ohio's state constitution. As the first state to propose such an amendment, it drew nation wide attention, positive and negative. While everyone is entitled to vote as they see fit, it is troubling to realize that the majority of voters have not idea what abortion actually does. Blinded by scare tactics, Issue 1 supporters haven't done their own research, relying instead on Pro-Abortion media.

In August, five Pro-Life advocates were found guilty of conspiracy after blocking the entrance to the Washington Surgi-Clinic (a notorious abortion facility previously featured in Heartbeat Press's June 2023 edition). Notably, key evidence was excluded from the trial and the judge openly sympathized with abortion while belittling the Pro-Lifers and lacked basic knowledge of Pro-life laws. The head doctor at Surgi-Clinic has yet to be held accountable for his own abortion crimes.
A proud mother of seven, Hannah Neeleman, was crowned Mrs. American during the pageant final in August. The 33-year-old won hearts when she revealed that her most empowering moments were the births of each of her children.

Rihanna announced her second pregnancy during the Superbowl 22 halftime show and made a powerful, if unintended, statement that mothers can follow their dreams while also caring for their children. Children do not hold mothers back. If anything, they empower them.
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, who scored the game-winning goal of Superbowl 22, is Pro-Life and has previously made the statement, "It is so essential to enshrine the protection of all human life and make Kansas a place where all human children are protected at every stage of life."
